The Lagos State House of Assembly has thrown its full weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term, unanimously passing a resolution that praises his administration’s reforms and pledges political support for his re-election.
The motion, moved by Hon. Oladipo Ajomale (Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II), was adopted during plenary on Tuesday, April 28, under the leadership of Speaker Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa.
Lawmakers took turns highlighting what they described as transformative achievements under Tinubu’s leadership. Central to their commendation was the removal of fuel subsidy, which they said has saved trillions of naira and enabled increased funding for infrastructure and social programmes.

They also pointed to the unification of exchange rates, noting that the policy has improved transparency, attracted foreign investment, and strengthened investor confidence in Nigeria’s economy.
The Assembly further applauded the introduction of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), describing it as a game-changer that has expanded access to higher education for millions of young Nigerians, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

On infrastructure, legislators referenced ongoing projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road and the Sokoto-Badagry corridor, stating that these initiatives are boosting connectivity, creating jobs, and stimulating economic growth nationwide.
Tinubu’s economic diplomacy also received praise, with lawmakers citing billions of dollars in foreign direct investment commitments secured from global partners, including the United Kingdom and the United States.
In addressing food security, the Assembly acknowledged measures such as the removal of import duties on rice and wheat, as well as the release of grain reserves to cushion the effects of rising food prices on citizens.
Speaker Obasa, in his remarks, described the endorsement as a reflection of Lagos State’s leadership role in national politics. He insisted that Tinubu’s administration has delivered tangible results across key sectors.
“From stabilising the economy through subsidy reforms to empowering youths with education loans, this administration has renewed hope for Nigerians. Lagos stands firmly behind his second-term ambition,” Obasa said.
He added that the decision goes beyond symbolism, stressing that it demonstrates unity within the Assembly and a shared commitment to national progress.
New Clerk, Key Appointments Announced
In a related development, the Assembly confirmed several administrative appointments, headlined by the elevation of Mrs. Adenike Oshinowo as Clerk of the House—making her the first woman to occupy the position.
Other appointments include Mr. Olaosebikan Ebenezer as Deputy Clerk, Mrs. Latifat Ogbara as Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly Service Commission (LAHASCOM), Mr. Remi Bello as Commissioner, and Mrs. Adeola Victoria Modupe as Secretary to the Commission.
Speaker Obasa said the appointments are aimed at strengthening the Assembly’s administrative structure and improving governance efficiency. He urged the new appointees to carry out their duties with diligence and integrity.
The Assembly, he noted, remains committed to institutional reforms that will enhance its effectiveness in serving the people of Lagos State.
