Arteta Sets Tone for Arsenal’s UCL Clash with Atlético Madrid: “We Must Go Toe-to-Toe”

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has detailed how his side plans to confront Atlético Madrid in Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg in Spain, emphasizing tactical awareness and physical intensity.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Arteta highlighted the importance of understanding the opposition’s structure and momentum.

“We understand what’s happening at the moment, how they’re activated and what makes them tick,” he said.

Arteta added that Arsenal have already identified Atlético Madrid’s key threats and must act decisively from the start.

“We have identified their threats. Tomorrow, we’ve to be able to test them quickly and not let them pass. And above all, we’ve to make sure that we go toe-to-toe with them.”

The Arsenal boss is also managing a setback ahead of the clash, with forward Kai Havertz ruled out due to injury, leaving a gap in his attacking options for the crucial European encounter.
