The race for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 elections intensified on Tuesday as Osifo Stanley officially entered the contest, purchasing his expression of interest and nomination forms for N100 million.
The Edo-born politician collected the documents from the APC National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, at the Ladi Kwali International Conference Center, Abuja Continental Hotel, signaling a direct challenge to incumbent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Stanley, however, dismissed speculations that his candidacy was being backed by the presidency to create an impression of internal party competition.

“This is not the first time I’m hearing such claims. Nobody is sponsoring me. Even in 2018 and 2019 when I contested under a different party, similar allegations were made,” he told journalists. “The President has never given me any money. I rely on what God has provided.”

Explaining the timing of his entry, Stanley said his decision followed wide consultations with party stakeholders, despite catching many observers off guard.
He also pledged to abide by the party’s internal democratic processes, expressing readiness for any mode of primary election the APC leadership may adopt.
Central to his campaign is a reform blueprint titled “Metamorphosis 2027,” which he said is designed to tackle Nigeria’s pressing socio-economic and security challenges.
“My aspiration is anchored on transforming Nigeria into a nation driven by integrity, innovation, and inclusive development,” Stanley said. “The time has come for Nigeria to undergo a total transformation. Together, we can build a nation that works for all.”
