Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has sparked debate after condemning what he described as targeted criticism of Igbo individuals who support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.
In a post shared on X, the actor expressed concern over what he يرى as a pattern of selective backlash within the Igbo community, arguing that supporters of the president from other regions are rarely subjected to similar scrutiny.
Edochie urged critics to adopt a more balanced and inclusive approach to political engagement, questioning why condemnation appears to be disproportionately directed at people from the same ethnic group.

He emphasized that political differences should not fuel internal division, calling instead for mutual respect and a broader national outlook as political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of the next election cycle.
In a strongly worded statement, the actor criticised those who publicly attack fellow Igbos over their political choices, while remaining silent about supporters of the president from other parts of the country.
The remarks have added to ongoing conversations around political loyalty, ethnicity, and unity as Nigeria gradually shifts focus toward the 2027 general elections.
