Nigeria’s Ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri, has declared that the average Nigerian is better off under President Bola Tinubu’s administration than before he assumed office.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Omokri argued that despite global disruptions in the oil sector, including the Iran crisis that caused fuel availability problems in the United States and the United Kingdom, Nigerians have not faced similar shortages.
“The average Nigerian is much better off today. When was the last time Nigerians slept in fuel stations? Nigerians have not slept in fuel stations since this man became president. There is no availability problem in Nigeria,” he stated.
Omokri also pointed to the absence of prolonged industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). “When was the last time you heard of ASUU strike? Under this government, there has been not a single nationwide ASUU strike,” he said, noting that this has allowed students in tertiary institutions to complete their studies without the usual interruptions.
The former presidential spokesperson further argued that Nigeria’s biggest challenge is not insecurity but the high number of out-of-school children. He put the figure at 20 million and said President Tinubu is investing in education to address the problem.
Omokri’s comments come amid ongoing public debates about the impact of the Tinubu administration’s economic and social policies.
