Desmond Elliot Kneels in Dramatic Apology to Gbajabiamila After APC Primary Debacle

Lagos State House of Assembly member and former Nollywood actor Desmond Elliot has publicly apologised to the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, over his actions following the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in Lagos.

In a video circulating widely on social media, Elliot is seen kneeling before Gbajabiamila as he seeks forgiveness and appeals to be welcomed back into the APC fold in the state.

“I’m sorry, I have no excuse. I have nothing other than to say I’m deeply sorry, and I am hoping to be cultured in the future,” Elliot said in the footage.

The apology comes after a bitter disagreement with party leadership over the May primary that selected the APC candidate for the Surulere Constituency I seat. Elliot had withdrawn from the contest, claiming his supporters faced intimidation and political pressure. He later rejected the results and vowed to pursue an appeal through the party’s internal mechanisms.

Elliot ultimately lost the ticket to Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, who was widely regarded as having Gbajabiamila’s support. Odunuga-Bakare secured a decisive 11,385 votes compared to Elliot’s 270.
