INEC Launches Capacity Workshop to Boost Transparency, Service Delivery in Enugu

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and citizen-focused service delivery with the commencement of a two-day Certified Technical Capacity Building Workshop for SERVICOM Departmental Desk Officers in Enugu State.
The workshop, which began on Monday, is focused on reviewing the third edition of INEC’s Integrated Service Charter and developing a Local Service Charter aimed at strengthening service standards across the Commission.
Organised in collaboration with the SERVICOM Presidency Team, the programme received the approval of INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, as part of ongoing institutional reforms to enhance public trust in the electoral process.
Declaring the workshop open, the Director of Administration, Mr. Austin Orogbu, represented the INEC National Commissioner, Prof. Sani Adams, and the Secretary to the Commission, Mrs. Rose Anthony, who were absent due to official engagements.
Orogbu stressed the strategic importance of the training, noting that the Commission places high priority on efficient and accountable service delivery.
“We brought you here to demonstrate the seriousness the Commission attaches to this exercise,” he said, commending the SERVICOM unit for emerging as the “most improved parastatal service unit.”
He described the recognition as evidence of INEC’s continuous reforms and urged desk officers to be innovative and outcome-driven in implementing lessons from the workshop.
The Administrative Secretary of INEC in Enugu State was represented by the Head of Department, Voter Education and Publicity, Mr. Rex Achimie, who delivered a welcome address on behalf of the state office.
Achimie described the workshop as timely and strategic, thanking the SERVICOM Presidency Team for its sustained support.
“As a commission entrusted with the critical responsibility of managing Nigeria’s electoral process, INEC recognises that credible elections are not driven by sound laws and technology alone, but also by efficient service delivery, responsiveness to stakeholders, and adherence to best administrative practices,” he said.
Organisers explained that the workshop is designed to align INEC’s Service Charter with its strategic objectives, integrate stakeholder feedback, assess performance metrics, and identify gaps in service delivery.
Expected outcomes include clearer service definitions, improved institutional accountability, enhanced stakeholder satisfaction, and a more efficient service delivery framework.
Officials said the initiative reflects INEC’s determination, under the leadership of Prof. Joash Amupitan, to strengthen internal processes and reinforce public confidence in Nigeria’s electoral system through excellence in service delivery.
