A significant display of unity and cultural solidarity unfolded as Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi paid a royal courtesy visit to elder statesman High Chief Ifasegun Elegushi in Lagos.
The visit, marked by warmth and deep mutual respect, highlighted a shared commitment to preserving Yoruba culture and heritage amid changing societal dynamics.
During the engagement, the Ooni of Ife commended Chief Elegushi for his enduring contributions to the promotion and protection of traditional values. He also offered prayers to Olódùmarè, seeking long life, sound health, and continued wisdom for the Opemoluwa, while invoking progress and divine guidance for the Association of African Traditional Religion Worshippers of Nigeria and Overseas.

In his response, Chief Elegushi expressed gratitude to the monarch for the visit, describing it as a mark of honor despite the Ooni’s demanding royal duties. He praised the Ooni’s leadership, particularly his initiatives aimed at youth empowerment and his dedication to safeguarding Yoruba language, customs, and traditions.
The Opemoluwa also called on traditional rulers across the country to intensify efforts in preserving indigenous heritage, warning that cultural identity must not be allowed to erode. He stressed that custodians of tradition bear a collective responsibility to ensure the survival of ancestral values.

Addressing social concerns, Chief Elegushi lamented the increasing rate of moral decline among young people. He urged parents and guardians to prioritize proper upbringing, discipline, and value-based guidance, noting that societal transformation begins within the home.
The meeting underscored the importance of collaboration among traditional leaders in shaping a morally grounded and culturally conscious society, while reaffirming their resolve to protect the legacy passed down through generations.
