Rotary Club of Lagos names Toki Mabogunje as 65th President, launching the “Unite for Good” agenda for purposeful service, unity, and sustainable impact

The Rotary Club of Lagos inaugurated its 65th President, Rotarian Toki Mabogunje, at a high-profile investiture ceremony that also welcomed the 2025–2026 Board of Directors.

With the powerful theme “Unite for Good: A Call to Purpose, Progress, and Legacy,” the event underscored a renewed vision for unity, youth empowerment and impactful service.

Rotarian Mabogunje, former President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, now takes the helm of Nigeria’s oldest Rotary club.

Her address inspired a fresh wave of purpose. “This theme calls us to harness the power of collaboration, to strengthen our bonds, and to amplify our impact,” she said.

Immediate Past President Adetunji Lamidi reflected on key achievements, including skill-building for women, provision of clean water to underserved schools and communities, and a $7 million fund raised under the Rotary Foundation.

“Today marks a significant day in the journey of the Rotary Club of Lagos,” he remarked, adding, “I’m convinced Rotarian Toki has what it takes to elevate the club even further.”

Mabogunje pledged to grow membership intentionally, forge strategic partnerships, and fully embrace technology.

“Every Rotarian has something to contribute. We must recruit with purpose, serve with passion, and collaborate boldly,” she emphasised.

Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Chairman of the event, Lawrence Fubara Anga, challenged members to offer solutions in what he described as a “season of anomaly.”

He urged guests to reject mediocrity and embrace generosity, saying, “The more you hold on to your resources, the more the anomaly expands.”

Guest of Honour, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, described Mabogunje’s emergence as timely and visionary.

“The theme could not be more powerful or needed in a fractured world,” she said. Ogunsola called for investment in Nigeria’s youth, stressing that they are not liabilities but “digital natives” with transformative potential. “Technology, when united with your purpose, creates miracles,” she added.

District Governor Rotarian Lanre Adedoyin congratulated Mabogunje and urged members to give sacrificially.

“Although the economy is tough, it is said that givers never lack,” he reminded the audience.

The ceremony ended on a high note, echoing the club’s renewed commitment to serve with purpose under the banner of unity.
