The organisers of the Nigeria Media Nite-Out Awards have announced the 20th Anniversary Edition of the prestigious awards ceremony, which will take place on Sunday, November 29, 2026, at the B. Event Centre, Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.
The landmark edition marks two decades of recognising excellence in journalism, broadcasting, public relations, entertainment, and media practice, while celebrating the industry’s contributions to Nigeria’s democratic development and national growth.
This year’s anniversary edition is themed “The Role of a Vibrant Press for the 2027 Nigerian Election & The Empowerment of the Youth.”
According to the organisers, the theme highlights the media’s responsibility to promote credible, balanced and issue-driven reporting ahead of the 2027 general elections. It also underscores the need to empower young Nigerians to contribute meaningfully to nation-building through responsible journalism, innovation and civic engagement.
Director of Current Affairs at TVC News, Babajide Otitoju, will serve as the guest speaker. He is expected to deliver the keynote address on the role of the media in strengthening Nigeria’s democracy and inspiring the next generation of media professionals.
The Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, MON, will attend the event as the Special Guest of Honour, reinforcing the awards’ role as a platform for engagement between government, the media and other stakeholders.
The organisers said the 20th anniversary celebration will bring together journalists, broadcasters, public relations practitioners, policymakers, corporate executives, entertainers and other distinguished personalities from across the country to honour individuals and organisations that have made significant contributions to Nigeria’s media landscape.
Speaking on the forthcoming event, Convener of the Nigeria Media Nite-Out Awards, Sola Olugbemiro, described the anniversary as more than an awards ceremony.
He said the event represents “a celebration of resilience, professionalism, ethical journalism, and the enduring impact of the Nigerian media over the past two decades.”
The organisers also called on stakeholders in the media industry, government, private sector, development organisations and the general public to participate in the historic event as the awards continue to promote excellence and strengthen the role of the media in national development.
