L-R: Chairman of the District 9112 Public Image Committee, Assistant Governor Ehi Braimah; District Governor Femi Adenekan; District Governor Elect Lanre Adedoyin; and District Conference (DISCON) 2025 Chairman, Past Assistant Governor Tony Eigbokhan at a press conference organised for the inaugural DISCON of the District in Lagos recently.

Rotary District 9112 holds its first press conference ahead of its pioneer District Conference, set to begin in Abeokuta with impactful projects and international representation

Former Lagos Commissioner, Asiwaju Dr. Michael Olawale-Cole; media personality, Dr. Reuben Abati; and agri-tech advocate, Farmer Samson Ogbole, are among the high-profile speakers lined up for the inaugural District Conference (DISCON) of Rotary International District 9112, scheduled to hold from 22 to 25 May 2025 in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Themed “Increasing the Impact of Rotary Through a New World of Service”, the event marks a historic milestone for D9112, a newly created district that emerged from the reorganisation of District 9110 in July 2024.

At a press conference held on Wednesday, Rtn. Ehi Braimah, Chairman of the Public Image Committee, presented key district leaders including District Governor, Rtn. Femi Adenekan; District Governor-Elect, Rtn. Lanre Adedoyin; and DISCON 2025 Chairman, PAG Tony Eigbokhan.

DG Adenekan stated that the four-day conference had been meticulously planned over the past 13 months and would bring together Rotarians from across the district to “reflect, review, and project.”

“This is a historic gathering… an opportunity to showcase our collective service impact,” said Adenekan.

He revealed that Rotary International President, Rtn. Stephanie Urchick, will be represented at the event, which kicks off tomorrow with inspections of a vocational centre, a prostate cancer centre in Sagamu, and a courtesy visit to a royal palace.

DG Adenekan also outlined some key achievements under his tenure, including the reintegration of 200 pupils into school, the planting of coconut trees to protect the Lagos shoreline, and other impactful community initiatives.

Looking ahead, he expressed confidence in DGE Lanre Adedoyin, describing him as “tailor-made and well prepared with over 30 years of Rotary experience.”

DGE Adedoyin reaffirmed his readiness to lead and called on the media to continue supporting Rotary’s mission.

PAG Eigbokhan described the planning journey as “enlightening” and assured stakeholders of a vibrant and engaging conference in Abeokuta.
