“You Can’t Be President Now” — Yul Edochie Fires at Peter Obi Over 2027 Ambitions

Nollywood actor and political commentator, Yul Edochie, has stirred fresh debate ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring that Peter Obi cannot become Nigeria’s president at this time.

In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), Edochie argued that Obi’s political trajectory faces deeper challenges, claiming that any political party the former Labour Party presidential candidate aligns with risks internal collapse.

He specifically dismissed Obi’s reported engagement with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing it as “dead on arrival” and a “total waste of time.”

“It’s not a physical problem. It’s deeper than that,” Edochie wrote, adding that he was surprised Obi either does not recognize the issue or is choosing to ignore it. “But the truth remains the truth—Peter Obi cannot be President of Nigeria now.”

Edochie, a known supporter of President Bola Tinubu, has remained an outspoken voice in political discussions. The actor previously contested the Anambra State governorship election in 2017 under the Democratic Peoples Congress platform.

Obi, who flew the flag of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, has continued consultations across political platforms, with recent reports linking him to possible alliances, including with the ADC, as political realignments gather momentum ahead of 2027.
