The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has upgraded its digital certificate platform to enable candidates who sat for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) to access, download and print their certificates online.
WAEC disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday, August 21, 2026, announcing that the 2026 WASSCE for School Candidates certificates are now available on its Digital Certificate Platform.
According to the examination body, candidates can access their certificates through the official WAEC website or the WAEC Digital Certificate mobile application.
The platform provides two major services: Certificate Access and Certificate Confirmation.
Certificate Access allows candidates to view, download and share their certificates, while Certificate Confirmation enables institutions and organisations to verify the authenticity of certificates presented by candidates.
The development is expected to make it easier for 2026 WASSCE candidates to obtain their certificates for admission, employment and other official purposes without relying solely on physical copies.
How to Download the 2026 WASSCE Certificate Online
Candidates who want to access their 2026 WASSCE certificates online are required to:
- Visit the official WAEC website and access the Digital Certificate Platform.
- Select Certificate Access.
- Enter the required examination and identification details.
- Complete the verification process, including OTP authentication where required.
- View and download the digital certificate.
- Save the certificate securely or share it with the relevant institution or organisation.
WAEC also advised candidates to use its official digital certificate application, which is available on the Google Play Store, to access their certificates.
The examination body clarified that the digital certificate platform operates separately from the WAEC result-checking portal used by candidates to verify their examination results.
The announcement comes after WAEC released the results of the 2026 WASSCE for School Candidates.
A total of 1,950,726 candidates participated in the examination, while 1,200,514 candidates, representing 61.54 per cent, obtained credits and above in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
Candidates checking their results are required to generate a PIN and serial number through the WAEC website before accessing the result-checking portal.
