Fashion designer Veekee James has made it clear she has no plans to trade her sewing machine for full-time content creation, insisting that her fashion brand holds far greater long-term financial promise.
In a recent interview, the celebrated Nigerian designer painted a bold picture of her future, saying she expects to sell individual pieces from her label for as much as $100,000 — or even higher — within the next five years.
“I don’t know the content creation that can make me stop fashion designing. I don’t know the kind of money I would see,” she stated. “In the next five years, I see myself making one dress for $100,000, if not more. Just one dress.
“Maybe a content creation deal could pay me $500,000, but that might be a one-year contract. The amount I can make from one, two, three, or five dresses wouldn’t even take that long to achieve.”
Veekee described fashion designing as the foundation of her career and her “baby,” emphasising that it is not something she takes lightly. She noted that she would only consider stepping away if she felt she was losing sight of her God-given purpose — not simply because of money elsewhere.
While the designer remains open to lucrative brand partnerships and content creation opportunities, she stressed that fashion remains her first love and the core of her identity as a creative entrepreneur.
