Toyin Abraham Snubs Lagos APC Campaign List: “I’m Staying Out of Politics”

Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has firmly rejected her reported inclusion in the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council, declaring that she is staying out of politics.

In an Instagram Story posted on Thursday, 17 September 2026, Abraham addressed the appearance of her name under the party’s Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate. “I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently, I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee,” she wrote.

The clarification followed the release of the Lagos APC campaign structure, which is scheduled for inauguration on Friday, 18 September, at the party’s secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja.

Abraham was listed alongside several prominent entertainment figures. These included veteran actor Jide Kosoko, actresses Eniola Badmus and Bimbo Akintola, and Fuji musicians Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Abass Akande Obesere and Adewale Ayuba.

The Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate is headed by Toke Benson-Awoyinka as director, with Kosoko as co-director and Badmus as deputy director. Akeem Alimi (Ajala Jalingo) is named secretary, while Dare Olateju is listed as assistant secretary.

Other names on the list include Adebayo Salami (Oga Bello), Saheed Balogun, Bukky Wright, Fathia Balogun, Yinka Quadri, Tayo Sobola, and musicians Sulaimon Alao Adekunle (Malaika), Akorede Babatunde Okunola (Osupa) and Temitope Adekunle (Small Doctor).

Abraham’s public rejection creates a clear gap between the published list and her stated position. As of the latest reports, neither the Lagos APC campaign council nor the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Media Centre has offered an explanation for her inclusion.

The development is notable given Abraham’s previous political engagement. During the 2023 presidential election, she publicly supported Bola Tinubu, the APC candidate, a stance that drew significant social media reaction at the time. Her latest statement, however, focuses solely on her current decision to remain outside campaign activities.

The episode unfolds as political mobilisation intensifies ahead of the 2027 general elections, with parties assembling sector-based campaign teams. For the Lagos APC, the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate forms part of a wider structure intended to coordinate outreach. Abraham’s denial leaves her reported role unresolved as the council prepares for its formal inauguration.
