The runner-up in the recent APC governorship primary election in Sokoto State, Alhaji Farouk Malami Yabo, has emerged running mate to the party’s candidate, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto.

It would be recalled that in the primary, Ahmed Aliyu polled 2,282 votes, Faruk Malami Yabo 837, Abubabar Abdullahi Gumbi 70 and Sen. Abubakar Gada 20.

The decision to make Malami the running mate was said to have been reached on Saturday night when the leader of the party in the state and Chairman of Northern Senators Forum (NSF), Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, met with the duo at his Gawon Nama residence in Sokoto.

A statement signed by Wamakko’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Bashir Rabe Mani, indicated that the meeting was held behind closed doors.

Rabe Mani said the event was witnessed by the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Nasiru Gawuna, and the Chairman, Governing Board, National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), Alhaji Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi.

Also present, he added, were three House of Representatives Members, Alhaji Abdullahi Balarabe Salame, Alhaji Ahmed Abdullahi Kalambaina and Alhaji Sa’adu Na-Bunkari, among other top party members.
