On Wednesday morning, as is well known by now, 66 year old James T. Hodgkinson opened fire on a group of Congressional Republicans who were practicing for the upcoming Congressional baseball game. The Congressional baseball game is held as an annual event to raise money for charity.
Now, there is video footage of the shootout between police and Hodgkinson and the moments before in which he opened fire. Noah Nathan captured several minutes of the ordeal on a cellphone video, and that video has now been obtained by the New York Post.
In the video, which you can see below, witnesses can be heard discussing where the gunman was shooting from and whether or not anyone had called 911 yet.
Nathan told the New York Post that he was “more pissed of than scared during the attack.” The shooter ended up wounding four or five people, one of whom is House Majority Whip Rep. Steve Scalise, who is now in critical but stable condition.
Another victim of the incident, Matt Mika, is in critical condition, with his family having been reportedly called to D.C. POLITICO’s Jake Sherman describes Mika as a “former staffer-turned-lobbyist.”

Rep. Scalise’s personal security detail of Capitol Police engaged the shooter in a firefight soon after the incident began to unfold and are credited with having kept it from getting even more ghastly.
