PDP Governors, Others Pledge To Treat Supreme Court Ruling As ‘No Victor, No Vanquished’

Governors elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has expressed optimism that the highly-awaited judgement of the Supreme Court would unite the party, even as they committed towards ensuring that the party wins all positions up for election in 2019.
Ahead of the the apex court ruling which would put paid to the leadership tussle between the national chairman of the PDP, Ali Modu Sheriff and the camp loyal to Ahmed Makarfi, the governors pledged to adopt a “no winner and no vanquished” towards the outcome of the appeal.
The PDP Governors Forum and some other party stakeholders reached this decision at a meeting held on Thursday at the residence of the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Ekiti State, Chief Ayodele Fayose.
They resolved “to remain confident, committed and loyal to the PDP believing that the Party which is more democratic than any other in the Country, will be united towards winning elections at all levels in 2019”.
The chairman of the forum, according to a statement signed on Friday by the head, Publicity Division, Chinwe Nnorom, maintained that the PDP is beyond every member and as such, all its members must be guided by its supremacy.
He reassured party members of their continuous agreement to work together for the overall success of the PDP and the nation’s democracy.
The meeting was attended by Governors of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, Gombe State, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, Bayelsa State, Henry Seriake Dickson, the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Ipalibo Banigo, and the host governor, Fayose.
Other party leaders include: Prof. Jerry Gana, former governors of Abia State, Senator T. A. Orji, Imo, Chief. Achike Udenwa, ex-ministers of Women Affairs, Hajiya Zainab Maina and Hajiya Inna Ciroma, and a host of other party stalwarts.
