At Thursday’s plenary session, lawmakers condemned the continued occupation of council offices by sacked APC chairmen, accusing them of creating unnecessary hardship at the grassroots level through the closure of public institutions.

Raising the matter under urgent public importance, Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi of Obokun Constituency described the ongoing tension at local council secretariats as unfortunate and avoidable.
He urged the Assembly to take a firm position on the matter.

Other lawmakers echoed his concern, criticising reports that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) was allegedly preparing to disburse council allocations to accounts controlled by the dismissed APC officials.
The law must be obeyed, and the people’s mandate respected.
They reminded the CBN and other federal institutions that a valid court judgement had removed the former chairmen from office and that the state electoral commission had withdrawn their Certificates of Return.
The Majority Leader, Hon. Kofoworola Adewumi, moved a resolution to resist any attempt to displace the PDP chairmen elected on February 22, 2025.
The motion was seconded by Hon. Olujinmi Asagade of Ejigbo and passed unanimously.
Speaker of the House, Hon. Adewale Egbedun, declared the Assembly’s full support for the PDP-led councils and warned against any unlawful interference.
“The law must be obeyed, and the people’s mandate respected,” he said firmly.
