Former Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Chief Dan Osi Orbih, the former National Vice Chairman (South-South) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who passed away at the age of 64.
In a condolence message, Obaseki described the late politician as a prominent Edo indigene whose impactful contributions to politics and public service left an enduring mark on both the state and the nation.
Orbih previously served as chairman of the PDP in Edo State before ascending to the national vice chairmanship of the party for the South-South region. Obaseki noted that the deceased played key roles in strengthening the PDP’s structures in Edo and at the national level throughout his years of active engagement.
“I received with profound sadness the news of the passing of Chief Dan Osi Orbih, a prominent Edo son and renowned politician who passed away at the age of 64,” the former governor said.
He added that Orbih’s leadership positions within the PDP enabled him to make meaningful contributions to the party’s growth and Nigeria’s broader political process, securing him a place in Edo State’s political history. His death, Obaseki stated, represents a major loss to the state and the country.
Obaseki extended his deepest sympathies to Orbih’s wife, children, relatives, political associates, friends, and well-wishers.
“I extend my deepest condolences to the family of Chief Dan Osi Orbih, his friends, political associates, colleagues and numerous well-wishers. I particularly sympathise with his wife, children and loved ones at this difficult time.
“May God grant his family the strength and fortitude to bear this painful loss, and may He grant Chief Dan Osi Orbih eternal rest,” he prayed.
