Katsina Police have busted a kidnapping ring involving a 14-year-old girl who conspired with three others to abduct her younger sister and fake her own kidnapping for a N50m ransom
The Katsina State Police Command has successfully uncovered a sophisticated Katsina kidnapping plot involving a 14-year-old girl who conspired with three accomplices to abduct her four-year-old sister and orchestrate her own fake kidnapping to demand a hefty ransom.

Abubakar Sadiq, spokesperson for the command, revealed the details on Wednesday during a briefing on the command’s activities for May.

The incident came to light on February 20, 2025, when Alhaji Badamasi Bala of Madaci Yan Nono Quarters, Katsina, reported the alleged abduction of his two daughters, aged 14 and 4, by unknown individuals who demanded a ransom of ₦50 million for their release.
“Upon receipt of the letter, the Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Bello Shehu, detailed the command’s anti-kidnapping to investigate. Promptly, detailed investigation commenced,” Sadiq stated.

They all confessed to the commission of the offence,” Sadiq confirmed. He added that during the investigation, one live round of 7.62mm ammunition was recovered from their possession. The investigation is ongoing.

Following this confession, the other suspects, aged 25, 19, and 16, were promptly arrested. The four-year-old victim was successfully rescued unharmed.
