The announcement was made by Dr. Adeniran Rahmon Tella, Resident Electoral Commissioner, during a press briefing in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The bye-election follows the death of Hon. Musliudeen Olaide Akinremi last year and will cover all 12 electoral wards of the constituency.

A total of 272,196 registered voters are expected, with 217,980 having already collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

Dr. Tella explained that all 512 polling units will be operational, supported by 526 Bimodal Verification Accreditation System (BVAS) machines, with 48 additional units held in reserve.

In a show of security preparedness, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) deployed 600 personnel, according to Commandant Augustine Padonu.

The NSCDC will collaborate with other security agencies to maintain order, safeguard national assets, and protect lives during the election.

Padonu emphasized the importance of a peaceful process: “We are fully committed to ensuring that the election process is peaceful, secure, and devoid of any disruptions.”
