A former House of Representatives aspirant for Ilorin South/Ilorin East Federal Constituency under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ojolowo Abdullahi Tunji, has resigned from the party and declared his support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its 2027 governorship candidate in Kwara State, Hon. Yakubu Danladi.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Abdullahi said his decision followed the prolonged internal crisis within the ADC, which he claimed had weakened the party’s ability to provide effective leadership and achieve its political objectives.
He also cited Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s decision to zone the APC’s 2027 governorship ticket to Kwara North and the emergence of Danladi as the party’s candidate as key reasons for joining the ruling party.
Abdullahi, who recently withdrew from the House of Representatives race amid the ADC’s internal challenges, pledged to devote his political efforts to supporting Danladi’s governorship campaign ahead of the 2027 general election.
The Managing Director of Embassy Foundation said the organisation would mobilise its network of supporters, volunteers and beneficiaries across Kwara State to deliver grassroots support for the APC candidate. He argued that it was time for Kwara North to produce the state governor after more than 30 years.
He also appealed to members of the G15 political group to embrace reconciliation and work closely with Governor AbdulRazaq to strengthen party unity ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a related development, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Embassy Foundation, Ojolowo Razaq Ayo, who is based in Germany, also endorsed Danladi’s governorship ambition.
He pledged to deploy his personal resources, international network and strategic partnerships to support the APC campaign, while urging supporters and beneficiaries of the Foundation across Kwara State to back Danladi’s governorship bid and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Abdullahi further revealed that plans had been concluded to launch a house-to-house mobilisation campaign across the Kwara Central Senatorial District, adding that a campaign committee had already been inaugurated to coordinate grassroots activities.
He also announced that Embassy Foundation would roll out a statewide humanitarian outreach programme involving the distribution of food items and relief materials to vulnerable residents. According to him, the initiative is aimed at complementing the Foundation’s humanitarian interventions while strengthening grassroots engagement ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
