Nigeria’s Flamingos produced a ruthless display to crush Guinea 5-0 in the first leg of their 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup second-round qualifying clash in Abidjan on Saturday.
Captain Harmony Chidi starred for the Nigerian side with an impressive hat-trick as the Flamingos took full control of the encounter from the opening whistle.
Akeem Busari’s girls wasted no time in asserting dominance, with Chidi finding the back of the net just one minute into the game. The prolific forward doubled Nigeria’s advantage in the 13th minute to put Guinea under early pressure.

The Flamingos continued their attacking masterclass when Oluwakemi Adegbuyi added the third goal in the 37th minute. Chidi then completed her hat-trick five minutes before halftime to hand Nigeria a commanding 4-0 lead at the break.
Nigeria maintained the intensity in the second half, and Mary Dunstan sealed the emphatic victory with the team’s fifth goal in the 56th minute.

The return leg is scheduled to take place next Saturday at the Remo Stars Stadium, where the Flamingos will look to complete the job and secure progression to the next round of the qualifiers.
