Benue State 2025 budget

Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia signs N550 billion 2025 budget into law, heralding a new era of development and innovation.

Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has signed the 2025 budget, valued at N550.1 billion, into law. The budget, titled “Human Capital Development, Food Security, and the Digital Economy,” was passed by the Benue State House of Assembly earlier on Monday, 30th December 2024, during a plenary session presided over by the Speaker, Hon. Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh.

The signing ceremony, held at the Benue State Government House in Makurdi, coincided with the formal launch of the State’s 10-Year Development Plan, the State Nutrition Policy, and the State Social Protection Policy.

Governor Alia described the occasion as a landmark moment in his administration’s commitment to fostering growth and prosperity in the state.

Speaking at the event, Governor Alia emphasised the importance of the 2025 budget in driving progress across key sectors.

“The signing into law of the 2025 budget, alongside the launch of our Development Plan and critical policies, marks a new chapter in our state’s story.

It lays the groundwork for a future where every citizen can succeed, live in dignity, and contribute to Benue’s growth,” he stated.

The budget aims to expand access to quality education, improve healthcare services, and enhance lifelong learning opportunities.

Governor Alia reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to equipping residents with the skills and resources needed to thrive in an ever-evolving world.

Highlighting the budget’s focus on digital transformation, the governor outlined plans to modernise the state’s economy.

“This budget allocates significant resources to digital infrastructure, internet access, and innovation hubs,” he said. “We aim to create an environment where entrepreneurs and businesses can flourish, enhance digital literacy, and generate jobs while unlocking new opportunities.”

The launch of the State Social Protection Policy underscored the administration’s commitment to supporting vulnerable populations.

The policy includes provisions for financial aid, healthcare, education, and job training, designed to uplift disadvantaged groups and ensure inclusive growth.

“This policy reflects our determination to protect every citizen, regardless of their circumstances,” Governor Alia noted.

The governor extended gratitude to the Benue State House of Assembly for its timely passage of the appropriation bill.

He also commended the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) for facilitating critical policy initiatives.

“This collective effort will bring about positive change and lasting prosperity in Benue,” he said.

With this ambitious budget and strategic policies in place, Benue State is poised to make significant strides towards a brighter, more resilient future.
