The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Sunday celebrated victories in four of the five legislative bye-elections held across the country, with National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda congratulating the party’s successful candidates.
In a statement posted on his X handle, Yilwatda hailed the wins by Kallamu Usman MaiJama’a (Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, Gombe State), Husseini Datti (Dawakin Kudu State Constituency, Kano State), Okolosi Ator (Udu State Constituency, Delta State) and Yakubu Ali (Disina State Constituency, Bauchi State).
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducted the five bye-elections on Saturday, 19 September 2026 — one federal and four state constituency seats. The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) took the remaining seat, Sakwa State Constituency in Bauchi State.
Yilwatda described the results as a reflection of the electorate’s confidence in the party and its candidates. He praised the winners, party structures, campaign teams and voters, while also commending INEC, security agencies and other stakeholders for the conduct of the polls.
Official results showed:
• Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency: MaiJama’a (APC) 41,121 votes; Labour Party 3,553; APM 872.
• Dawakin Kudu State Constituency, Kano: Datti (APC) 22,890 votes; Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) 270; Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 108.
• Udu State Constituency, Delta: Ator (APC) 8,724 votes; PDP 214.
• Disina State Constituency, Bauchi: Ali (APC) 5,846 votes; APM 5,225; PRP 3,701.
• Sakwa State Constituency, Bauchi: APM 8,515 votes; APC 3,771; PDP 2,076; PRP 727.
Addressing the newly elected lawmakers, Yilwatda said the victories were a call to service. He urged them to remain humble and deliver purposeful representation to their constituents.
“On behalf of the APC National Working Committee, I congratulate our candidates and the entire APC family across the four states. Together, we remain united and committed to building a stronger APC in the service of Nigerians,” he stated.
