Former Executive Chairman of Agege Local Government Area, High Chief Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi, and legal practitioner Barrister Azeez Oladapo Ninalowo have emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly primaries for Agege Constituencies 01 and 02 respectively.
The primaries, held on Wednesday, May 20, witnessed a massive turnout of party faithful and stakeholders across the wards in Agege, with supporters openly rallying behind their preferred candidates in a keenly observed exercise.
Egunjobi and Ninalowo had earlier secured the backing of the party after being adopted as consensus candidates during a caucus meeting presided over by Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, on Tuesday. Political observers noted that Obasa’s endorsement significantly boosted confidence in both candidates and shaped delegates’ voting decisions.

The exercise, which was streamed live on several social media platforms, was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), while security operatives, including officers of the Nigeria Police Force, maintained order throughout the process.
The primaries were conducted peacefully, with no reports of violence, disruption, or electoral malpractice. Stakeholders and observers commended the process for its transparency, organization, and adherence to democratic standards.

Celebrations erupted across Agege shortly after the announcement of the results, as supporters of both candidates flooded major streets and roads in jubilation. Many expressed confidence that Egunjobi and Ninalowo would deliver quality representation and continue developmental progress within their constituencies.
Party leaders who addressed supporters after the exercise praised the aspirants for their maturity and sportsmanship during the primaries. They also urged party members to remain united and work collectively towards ensuring victory for the APC in the forthcoming general elections.
Reaffirming the party’s commitment to internal democracy, peaceful political engagement, and unity, APC leaders called on all aspirants and supporters to close ranks ahead of the electioneering campaign. The successful conduct of the primaries is seen as a strong indication of the party’s organizational strength and growing political momentum in Agege ahead of the polls.
