The All Progressives Congress (APC) has scheduled Saturday, August 22, 2026, for its primary elections to select candidates for four restored State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states, as well as legislative bye-elections across Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano states.

The party announced the schedule in a timetable signed by its National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, and released on Wednesday.

According to the APC, the timetable followed the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) decision to restore four previously suppressed State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states.

The affected constituencies in Delta are Abraka, Isoko North II and Ughelli South II, while Yagba West II is the affected constituency in Kogi State.

For the legislative bye-elections, the APC listed Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe State; Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies in Bauchi; Udu State Constituency in Delta; and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano.

The party said the timetable covers the conduct of its primaries for the restored constituencies and the 2026 legislative bye-elections.

The sale of expression of interest and nomination forms began on Tuesday, August 18, and will close on Thursday, August 20. The deadline for submitting completed forms and accompanying documents is also August 20.

The screening of aspirants, publication of screening results and screening appeals will take place on Friday, August 21, ahead of the primary elections on August 22.

The APC has scheduled Monday, August 24, for election appeals.

For State House of Assembly aspirants, the party fixed the expression of interest fee at N1 million and the nomination fee at N5 million, bringing the total to N6 million.

House of Representatives aspirants are required to pay N1 million for the expression of interest form and N9 million for the nomination form, totalling N10 million.

The party also announced concessions for female, youth and physically challenged aspirants, who are to pay the full expression of interest fee but 50 per cent of the prescribed nomination fee for their respective positions.

The APC directed all aspirants to make payments in full into its designated bank account.

The development followed INEC’s restoration of the four previously suppressed constituencies in Delta and Kogi after court judgments.

The constituencies had remained without direct representation in their respective State Houses of Assembly for several years.

Meanwhile, the APC timetable also covers the legislative bye-elections in Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano. The Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency seat became vacant following the death of the lawmaker, Tongo Yaya.
