Fresh momentum is building around the 2027 governorship ambition of Adeola Olamilekan Solomon, popularly known as Yayi, following a strong endorsement from the Demola Dendebula Movement (DDM).
In a statement released Monday via campaign materials, the influential grassroots group congratulated the senator on what it described as his “consensus emergence” as the preferred governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Ogun State.
The message read in part:
“Congratulations to our distinguished party man, Senator Adeola Olamilekan Solomon (Yayi), on your consensus nomination as the Ogun State Governorship Candidate of our great party… Wishing you a landslide victory at the polls.”

The endorsement, signed by George Evans Ademola, a House of Representatives aspirant for Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency, underscores what analysts describe as a growing convergence of elite and grassroots support behind the senator.
Growing Political Strength Ahead of 2027

Senator Adeola, who represents Ogun West in the National Assembly, has continued to attract endorsements from key stakeholders and political blocs across the state. His supporters point to his legislative track record, expansive grassroots network, and empowerment initiatives as key factors boosting his profile.
Many within the APC now view him as a leading contender to succeed incumbent governor Dapo Abiodun when his tenure ends in 2027.
Although the party has yet to officially open its governorship nomination process, the wave of coordinated endorsements is widely interpreted as early positioning ahead of what is expected to be a highly competitive internal race.
Shifting Dynamics Within Ogun APC
Political observers say the DDM’s backing could intensify ongoing realignments within the Ogun APC, as aspirants and factions ramp up consultations over the state’s political future.
While Senator Adeola has not formally declared his candidacy, the frequency and scale of endorsements in his favour suggest his potential run is already shaping internal party dynamics.
With the 2027 election still some distance away, analysts believe such early alignments will play a crucial role in determining alliances and strategies within the ruling party.
As political activities gradually gather pace, Yayi is fast emerging as a central figure in the unfolding contest to succeed Governor Abiodun—signaling that the race for Ogun’s top seat may already be underway.
