Lagos Transport Commissioner Tasks LBSL on Impactful 2026 Strategy to Improve Bus Services

The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, has charged Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL) to ensure that its 2026 strategic plan delivers tangible improvements for residents and commuters across the state.
Osiyemi made the call during a working visit to the agency, aimed at assessing its strategic direction for 2026 and examining how its plans align with Lagos State’s broader development objectives, particularly in closing service delivery gaps affecting commuters.
He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting its agencies in delivering efficient and reliable transport services, stressing that such support must translate into measurable and visible benefits for the public.
The commissioner urged LBSL to address identified operational gaps through regular structural and system checks, noting that consistency, discipline and adherence to operational standards were critical to improving service reliability and strengthening public confidence in the state-run bus system.
Osiyemi was received by the Managing Director of LBSL, Mr. Idowu Oguntona, alongside members of the agency’s management team.
In his briefing, Oguntona outlined LBSL’s 2026 strategic focus, describing it as a roadmap to delivering safer, more reliable and sustainable bus services, while reinforcing public trust in the mass transit system.
He thanked the commissioner for the ministry’s guidance and oversight, assuring that LBSL would continue to uphold its mandate of providing safe, affordable and dependable bus services to Lagosians.
The visit formed part of Osiyemi’s ongoing oversight engagements with agencies under the Ministry of Transportation. In the past week, the commissioner has also visited the Lagos State Waterways Authority, Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, Motor Vehicle Administration Agency and Lagferry, as the ministry intensifies efforts to strengthen coordination and improve service delivery across the transport sector.
