Aare Emmanuelking celebrates Chief Obasanjo’s 88th birthday at global prayer breakfast

Aare Adetola Emmanuelking joined world leaders to celebrate Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s 88th birthday at a special Global Prayer Breakfast

On March 1st, 2025, the Otun-Asiwaju Onigbagbo of Remoland, Aare Adetola Emmanuelking, was among the many Christian leaders and dignitaries who gathered to celebrate the 88th birthday of Nigeria’s former President and Elder Statesman, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.

The occasion was marked by a spiritually enriching Global Prayer Breakfast, the 61st edition of this annual event, which was attended virtually by participants from 29 countries.

The special prayer session, a moment of reflection and intercession, was facilitated by Bishop T. Akin-Akinsanya, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria’s Southwest Zone, with Rev. Engr. A. Ojeshina moderating the event.

The prayer service featured a series of powerful intercessions, scriptural reflections, and worship led by a range of esteemed clerics, alongside performances from the Gatekeepers Worship Team.

Throughout the event, numerous international ministers took part, offering heartfelt goodwill messages and prayers. Notable contributors included Ven. O. Ogunremi from Kenya, Pastor M. Nwanegbo from Belgium, Bishop F. Wale Oke, Bishop E. Adekunle, and Rev. Mother E. Ajayi, as well as Apostle M. Oluwajoba from the USA, Dr. Juliet Hammond from the UK, and Bishop David Bakare.

These leaders highlighted the far-reaching influence of Chief Obasanjo, acknowledging his lasting impact on diplomacy, African development, and visionary leadership.

Aare Adetola Emmanuelking, in his own tribute to the celebrant, reflected on his first spiritual encounter with Chief Obasanjo in the 1990s. At that time, Obasanjo had authored a compelling compendium of prayers, a book that became a source of strength for Emmanuelking during his own period of captivity.

Drawing inspiration from the biblical story of Jonah, Emmanuelking spoke of how Chief Obasanjo had, like Jonah, emerged from adversity renewed and guided by divine wisdom.

“His resilience, strength, and unwavering commitment to service continue to inspire us all. Even at 88, Baba remains more energetic than many younger than him,” Emmanuelking stated.

“His life teaches us that longevity is sustained by purpose, by working, planning, and striving for a better tomorrow. Indeed, when one has a vision for the future, life is preserved by divine grace.”

Building on the belief that Chief Obasanjo is destined to live up to 120 years, Emmanuelking encouraged the statesman to continue his legacy by gifting the world with more editions of his impactful spiritual compendium.

He praised Obasanjo’s extraordinary contributions, particularly his role in Nigeria’s transition from military to civilian rule in 1979, and his return to power as a civilian President in 1999.

“Baba continues to make waves at 88, inspiring the nation and serving as a voice for Africa. May God continue to bless him with wisdom, strength, and good health.

May he live long to witness Nigeria and Africa’s continued growth and prosperity,” Emmanuelking concluded, reaffirming his prayers for Obasanjo’s long life and continued leadership.

The event came to a close with a special toast in honour of Chief Obasanjo, celebrating his transformative leadership and the divine grace that has guided him through decades of service to Nigeria and the global community.

Participants expressed their gratitude and hopes for his continued health and guidance as a statesman and an inspiration to future generations.
