A total of 80 officers have graduated from the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) course after satisfying the requirements of the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College in Gwagwalada, Abuja.
Leadership reports that 40 of the officers are senior officers and 40 of them are also junior officers. The officers, who graduated on Friday, December 14, were trained and retrained in general customs operations, international boarder laws and conventions, border security among others.
We gathers that Pass Staff Course (psc) Course 2 certificate was awarded to the senior graduands, while the junior graduands bagged pass Junior Staff Course (pjsc) award in course 2.
Comptroller general of customs, retired Colonel Hameed Ibrahim Ali, said: “Henceforth, promotion to the next rank and the nature of postings of an Officer will depend to a large extent on participation and performance during Staff College Courses.
“We will fall back on the Course reports issued on the participation and performance of the students in determining the kind of postings they will get, and their suitability for certain appointments. If you earn more courses, you are more likely to get more credit which will aid your promotion.”
Meanwhile, we previously reported that five bullet-proof cars and other goods with a duty paid value of over N591 million were impounded by officers of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) attached to the Force Operation Unit (FOU) Zone C, Owerri.
The impounded vehicles included 2018 Range Rover with duty paid value of N10.27 million, 2018 model Hilux with DTV of N95.6 million and other brands of Toyota cars.
The commander of the unit, comptroller Kayode Olusemire, told journalists that six suspects connected with smuggling activities in the zone were arrested by his men.
He said that the command also seized more than 2, 300 bags of rice in addition to 22 new brand cars, imported into the country through illegal routes.
