Tragic mum, 24, dies a month after taking banned slimming pills bought off the internet to lose her baby weight

A YOUNG mum has died after a month of taking slimming pills she bought on the internet to lose her baby weight.
Tragic Lucero Priscila Garza Campos, 24, passed away after just four weeks of taking the pills, leaving her 14-month-old baby motherless.
Lucero found herself suffering health problems including headaches after taking the pills and shortly afterwards fell into a coma.
She was rushed to hospital in the state of Nuevo Leon, north-eastern Mexico.
But she began having trouble breathing and she was diagnosed with an inflamed brain.
The young mum was hooked up to a breathing machine in an attempt to keep her alive.
But her family have now confirmed she has died after they took the tough decision to switch off her life support.
Lucero had spotted an online advert for the pills – which boasted to be made purely from “natural ingredients” – so she believed them to be safe and ordered a course instead of visiting her doctor.
Bernardo Gonzalez, prosecutor of the state of Nuevo Leon described Lucero’s death as “terrible” and said authorities had now launched a probe into the tragedy.
He added that anyone found to have been selling products that are prohibited under Mexican law would face punishment if caught.
Slimming pills such as those taken by Lucero have been banned in Mexico since 2014 by the Federal Commission for the Protection of Health Risk (Cofepris) because of the dangers they pose.
Side-effects reportedly include fainting, headaches, nausea and nervousness.
