President Bola Tinubu has ordered the immediate deployment of an army battalion to Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State following a deadly overnight attack on Worro community by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.

The directive also includes the appointment of a field commander and the immediate launch of a military operation codenamed Operation Savanna Shield, aimed at flushing out the attackers and restoring security to the area.
The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed the decision on Wednesday, noting that the deployed battalion would lead efforts to contain the insurgents and protect vulnerable communities.

Tinubu strongly condemned the attack, describing it as “cowardly and beastly,” and accused the assailants of deliberately targeting defenceless civilians.
He said the victims were reportedly killed after resisting attempts by the attackers to indoctrinate them with extremist ideology.
The President directed relevant federal and state agencies to collaborate in providing relief and support to affected residents, while ensuring that those responsible for the attack are tracked down and brought to justice.
He also expressed condolences to the families of the victims and to the people and government of Kwara State, praying for the repose of the souls of those killed.
Assuring residents of Kaiama and surrounding communities, Tinubu reiterated the Federal Government’s resolve to restore peace and prevent a recurrence of such attacks.
