Tinubu Embarks on France–Kenya–Rwanda Tour to Court Investors, Boost Partnerships

President Bola Tinubu has departed Nigeria for France, kicking off a three-nation official visit that will also include Kenya and Rwanda, as part of efforts to strengthen economic ties and attract foreign investment.

The presidential aircraft lifted off from the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, marking the start of a diplomatic tour focused on expanding Nigeria’s global partnerships.

At the departure ceremony, the President arrived in a black SUV and was received on the red carpet by top government officials. He exchanged greetings with dignitaries before proceeding to board the Nigerian Air Force aircraft, while military personnel stood in salute.

Originally scheduled for Saturday, the trip will see Tinubu begin engagements in France before heading to Nairobi, Kenya, for the Africa–France Summit scheduled for May 11–12.

The summit will be co-chaired by Emmanuel Macron and William Ruto, with discussions expected to centre on energy transition, climate action, digital transformation, and economic cooperation.

According to the presidency, Tinubu is expected to hold high-level talks with global leaders and investors, aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s economic relationships and positioning the country for increased foreign investment.

Following the summit, the President will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, to participate in the Africa CEO Forum from May 14–15. The forum will convene leading business executives and policymakers to explore strategies for driving economic growth and unlocking investment opportunities across the continent.

Officials say the visit underscores Nigeria’s commitment to leveraging international engagements to advance economic development and deepen strategic partnerships worldwide.
