Southern Kaduna Peoples’ Union (SOKAPU) has over weekend distributes relief materials to the deserving people of Southern Kaduna attacks regardless of their tribe or religion.
The Chairman Ad-Hoc Committee on relief materials, James Tokan Bala, said at the occasion that held in Kafanchan that the committee was constituted due to the foresightedness of the Union’s leadership to source the relief materials to assist the peaceful, friendly and law-abiding people of Southern Kaduna.
“The committee of 16 sons and daughters of Southern Kaduna swung into action as soon as it was inaugurated by visiting the affected communities of Takad, Godogodo, Nikyop, Gwong, Chawai Chiefdoms and Jema’a emirate to get first hand information on the magnitude and level of destructions.
“We also visited unaffected communities to sensitize them on our mandate and to appeal for cooperation and assistance towards alleviating the sufferings of the survivors of the carnage.
“Thirdly, letters were written to SOKAPU branches and chapters, Religious bodies, our elected representatives, corporate bodies and our various chiefdoms to appeal for assistance and the outcome of our going round the nooks and crannies of this country is the relief materials you are seeing today, which have been prepared to delivery to the representatives of the affected communities.”
“We want to say that, these materials should be given to the deserving people irrespective of their tribe or religion.” Said the chairman Earlier, the Secretary General of SOKAPU, Anto Ambi Ogah, who represented the President, SOKAPU, Solomon Musa, said that what they have done is nothing but a service to humanity.
“We believed that when the governor is taking an oath, he took the oath on behalf of the people of Kaduna state and said that he is going to serve the people of the state, we thank him for all efforts because the attacks are now reduce but we want more effort that can make our people go back to their various destinations and continue their farming.
“I am appealing to the people of southern Kaduna to continue to live in peace. With the absence of peace, we cannot have any meaningful achievements. Our doors are open to the government; we are ever ready to partner the government to make sure that peace return to southern Kaduna.”
While responding, one of the beneficiaries who speak on behalf of all the beneficiaries, Pastor Enoch Andom, appreciates the effort made by SOKAPU in bringing such materials to the communities affected in recent crisis.
“We are calling the government of Kaduna state to come to our aids and totally bring peace in southern Kaduna,” said Enoch.
Among the communities benefitted are, Godogodo, Chawai, Takad chiefdoms and Jema’a emirate.
The items distributed are bags of maize, clothes, shoes, and building materials.
