A new wave of hope is emerging for underserved urban communities in Nigeria as SlumPact Initiative officially begins operations with a mission to drive inclusive development and empower vulnerable populations living in informal settlements.
The newly established non-governmental organisation was launched amid growing concerns over the harsh realities faced by millions of Nigerians residing in slum communities, where inadequate housing, poor healthcare access, unemployment, and social exclusion remain widespread challenges.
Built on the belief that underserved communities possess untapped potential despite years of neglect, SlumPact Initiative aims to implement sustainable, community-led solutions that improve living conditions and create long-term opportunities for growth and development.
Speaking during the launch event, the Founder of SlumPact Initiative, Prof Davies Adeloye, said the organisation was established to bridge the gap between marginalised communities and opportunities for social and economic advancement.

According to him, the initiative goes beyond poverty alleviation by focusing on unlocking human potential, amplifying community voices, and restoring dignity to people often excluded from mainstream development efforts.
The organisation’s operational strategy centres on collaboration with local communities, government agencies, development partners, and private sector stakeholders to ensure sustainable and measurable impact. Its interventions will focus on community development, youth empowerment, skills acquisition, public health education, and advocacy for inclusive urban policies.

Stakeholders at the launch described the initiative as timely, especially as Nigeria continues to experience rapid urbanisation and the expansion of informal settlements. They noted that the organisation’s objectives align with national development priorities and global targets under the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those addressing poverty reduction, sustainable cities, and social inclusion.
SlumPact Initiative also pledged to uphold transparency, accountability, and efficient resource management as it rolls out programmes aimed at building resilient communities and creating pathways out of poverty.
The organisation further called on governments, development institutions, corporate organisations, and individuals to partner in advancing its mission of sustainable social and economic transformation across underserved communities in Nigeria.
