Shakira and Burna Boy Drop “Dai Dai,” Official FIFA World Cup 2026 Anthem

Global pop icon Shakira has teamed up with Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Burna Boy to release “Dai Dai,” the official anthem for the FIFA World Cup 2026.

The Colombian singer took to social media on Friday to make the announcement, writing, “Dai Dai is here. The @FIFAWorldCup 2026 starts now!” FIFA also confirmed the track’s release via Sony Music Latin, now available on all major streaming platforms.

“Dai Dai” is an energetic anthem celebrating resilience, ambition, and unity, paying tribute to football legends such as Pelé, Diego Maradona, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Mohamed Salah. It also honors nations including Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, the United States, Germany, and Japan.

Beyond its infectious rhythm, the song supports a meaningful cause. All royalties from “Dai Dai” will go to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise $100 million to provide children worldwide with access to education and football opportunities. Shakira has pledged her personal royalties, and Sony Music will match the first $250,000 in donations.

This marks Shakira’s return to the World Cup spotlight after her iconic hits “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” in 2010 and “La La La” in 2014. For Nigeria, Burna Boy’s involvement is historic—he is only the second Nigerian artist featured in an official World Cup song, following Davido in 2022.

Adding to the excitement, Nigerian star Rema will headline the opening ceremony on June 12 in Los Angeles, while Shakira will co-headline the first-ever halftime show at the tournament final on July 19, blending global music, sport, and purpose.

“Dai Dai” joins the official FIFA World Cup 2026 album alongside tracks like “Lighter,” “Por Ella,” “Echo,” and “Illuminate,” with more singles expected as the tournament, co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States, draws closer.
