Allegations of professional misconduct and medical malpractice levelled against the chief medical director of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, Professor Akeem Lasisi by the family of late Senator Isiaka Adeleke, have been dismissed by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, Vanguard reports.

Following the death of the senator, his body had been brought to LAUTECH, by members of his family, for an autopsy to be carried out.

It was gathered that the Council gave its verdict in a letter marked with Ref no: MD PIP/781/111, and signed by the secretary of the investigation panel, Dr E. D. Abdu; following consideration of the petition deposed to, on oath, by the family of the late lawmaker, the counter affidavit by Prof Lasisi, and the autopsy report.

The Council concluded that no case of misconduct in a professional respect has been established against the CMD.

Following the verdict, LAUTECH, via its public relations officer, Ayo Adeyemo, said Professor Lasisi had been absolved from any professional misconduct.

Recall that it was previously reported that the family of Senator Isiaka Adeleke moved to take legal action against the chief medical director of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Prof Akeem Lasisi.

Adeleke’s family pledged to drag Lasisi and other medical practitioners to court for alleged unprofessional conduct in handling the report of the late senator’s autopsy, which they had ordered.
