Oyo State Police has paraded a  33 – year-old man, Babalola Saka Bolaji, who was arrested in Ibadan, robbing people and extorting motorists with the aid of Police uniform he had stolen when working as a launderer in Lagos.
Bolaji, who confessed that he acquired the police kits while working in a security outfit in Lagos, and developed interest in police profession after wearing some of the police uniforms brought for washing, was one of the 23 suspects paraded by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abiodun Odude, at Eleyele, Ibadan.
The suspects paraded at the weekend were nabbed over series of offences ranging from armed robbery, kidnapping, Internet fraud, stealing, impersonation and so on. Items said to have been recovered from the suspects included five arms, four vehicles, one motorcycle, 11 sewing machines, laptops, phones, police kits and cash.
According to Odude, Bolaji was arrested on July 1, 2017 at a trailer park in Akinyele, Ibadan, through the help of a member of local vigilance group in the area.
According to him: “Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to have stolen the kits from a yet-to-be identified police officer in Lagos. It is suspected that before his arrest, the suspect had been using the police kits/uniform to rob unsuspecting innocent victims.”
The police boss said the exhibits recovered from Bolaji included one police camouflage golf/faze cap with mobile police badge, a black T-shirt with police logo, one black belt and two receipt booklets.
