Rite Foods Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable business practices, unveiling significant environmental, social and governance (ESG) achievements in its 2025 Sustainability Report as it continues to embed sustainability into its business operations.
The Nigerian food and beverage manufacturer announced notable improvements in environmental performance, including a reduction of more than five per cent in greenhouse gas emissions, a 23 per cent improvement in carbon intensity, a 15 per cent increase in water-use efficiency and a 27 per cent improvement in solid waste management.
Speaking during the presentation of the company’s 2025 Sustainability Report in Lagos on Friday, July 24, 2026, the Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, Mr. Ekuma Eze, attributed the achievements to sustained investments in cleaner production technologies, resource efficiency and operational excellence.
According to Eze, Rite Foods has also accelerated its transition to cleaner energy, with natural gas now accounting for more than 93 per cent of its energy mix, while the company continues to expand investments in renewable energy to support its long-term sustainability goals.
Beyond its environmental accomplishments, the company said it remains committed to driving socio-economic development by sustaining about 3,000 direct jobs and supporting more than 12,000 indirect jobs across its value chain.
Rite Foods also disclosed that it invested over ₦581.92 million in education, healthcare, youth empowerment, environmental sustainability and other community development initiatives, reinforcing its commitment to improving livelihoods in its host communities.
Eze described sustainability as a core pillar of the company’s long-term growth strategy.
“Sustainability has become a defining pillar of Rite Foods’ growth strategy and a key driver of long-term value creation. Every milestone we have achieved reflects our resolve to operate responsibly, reduce our environmental footprint, create shared value for our stakeholders and contribute meaningfully to national development,” he said.
He added that the company would continue to prioritise innovation, transparency and continuous improvement to ensure sustainable growth while delivering long-term value to consumers, employees and host communities.
According to him, Rite Foods has voluntarily aligned its sustainability reporting with globally recognised frameworks, including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards and elements of the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, demonstrating its commitment to transparency, accountability and responsible corporate leadership.
The 2025 Sustainability Report highlights the company’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its environmental, social and governance performance in line with international best practices.
Rite Foods stated that it remains focused on driving sustainable innovation, creating shared value and setting new benchmarks for responsible manufacturing in Nigeria.
The company’s product portfolio includes 13 variants of Bigi Carbonated Soft Drinks, Bigi Premium Drinking Water, Sosa Fruit Drink, Fearless Energy Drink, as well as Rite Spicy Beef Sausage, Bigi Beef Sausage, and Bigi Flex Sausage, all produced using modern manufacturing technology and state-of-the-art infrastructure.
