The singer has taken to his Instagram page to share a snippet of a brand new track titled “Oni Reason,” seemingly documenting his latest ordeal.
In the posted snippet, Portable, whose real name is Habeeb Okikiola, appears to reflect on his life’s journey, asserting that it is divinely orchestrated despite the numerous controversies and challenges he has encountered.
This approach of turning personal struggles into song has become a recurring theme in Portable’s career.
This isn’t the first time Portable has used his brushes with the law and public controversies as inspiration for his music.
Earlier in his career, after being declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command, he announced an EP titled “Most Wanted.”
He is also known for his track ‘Spiderman,’ which followed a viral video of him jumping over a fence to evade those he allegedly owed money.
“The artist claims his life’s journey is divinely orchestrated despite all the ordeals and controversies he has faced.”
Portable’s consistent presence in the news, often due to controversial incidents, appears to fuel his creative process.
This strategy of converting viral moments into music is a tactic employed by some artists to drive sales and maintain relevance within the competitive music industry.
His recent legal entanglement stemmed from a controversy involving popular Fuji artist Saheed Osupa.
While details of the arrest were widely reported, Portable has since reportedly apologized and appealed to resolve the issue. Now, he is channeling that experience into his latest musical offering, “Oni Reason.”
