OVER 60 stern looking Police officers, on Wednesday, stormed the office of the embattled Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, Abuja, Dr (Mrs.) Amina Shamaki, to aid her entry into the office with a view to packing all official documents.
It will be recalled that Civil Servants under the aegis of Academic Staff Union of Research Institutes (ASURI) had since Monday commenced a three-day warning strike, to call on both the Federal Government and Head of the Service of the Federation to redeploy the Permanent Secretary for allegedly denying staffers of the ministry their benefits and entitlements.
Checks by Tribune Online revealed that the embattled Permanent Secretary’s Office, which had since Monday been sealed off by the demonstrators, was eventually broken today by the Policemen to enable her pack all official files.
Immediately after she packed all the documents, it was gathered she then hurriedly rushed out of the complex for fear of being attacked by the aggrieved workers.
The National Secretary General of the union, Dr Theophilus Ndubuaku, told Tribune Online that the protest continues unabated, and the union leaders would soon meet and announce the next step of action.
As at the time of filing this report, the protesters, who were on a peaceful protest, however, disrupted official activities, as they were blowing trumpets and singing different songs right inside the various floors made up Head of Service Complex, Ministry of Science of Technology.
