Inspector General of Police Adamu Mohammed on Thursday, May 9, said that the force will embark on new strategies to stem the rising tide of criminalities in Nigeria.

The police spokesman, Frank Mba, made this disclosure during a conversation with journalists in Abuja on Thursday, Sahara Reporters reports.

As part of the tactics, Mba said that the police will employ undercover activities, decoy operations and high-level tactical missions.

He further said that officers from the police unit, the force intelligence unit, the Special Anti-Robbery Squads (SARS) the Special Anti-kidnapping Squads and the Police Tactical Units comprising the Police Mobile Force, the Counter Terrorism Unit and the Special Forces will be instrumental in the new scope of operations.

He said: “The operational strategies which are purposeful and intelligence-driven are targeted at identifying, locating and dismantling kidnapping gangs across the nation and bringing the kidnappers and their collaborators to justice.

“It is designed to complement and strengthen the Operation Puff Adder currently going on in several states of the federation.”

The police spokesman added that the force and its boss will”continue to work with other relevant stakeholders in the task of making Nigeria safer and better.”

Meanwhile, we reported that at a security meeting summoned by Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, May 9, the president ordered the nation’s security chiefs to ensure Nigerians slept with their two eyes closed and without fears.

The revelation was made by the chief of naval staff, Rear Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas, after the meeting held inside the Aso Rock Villa.
