A state burial will be held on Friday, August 8, approved by Governor Seyi Makinde, with the final service and interment taking place at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Aremo, Ibadan, at 10:00 a.m., as disclosed by the late king’s first son, Olasunmbo Olakulehin.

The week-long farewell begins on Sunday, August 3, with the Olubadan Olakulehin Football Cup semi-finals at Bishop Philips Academy Stadium.

Sports events will continue with table tennis tournament preliminaries on August 4 at Lekan Salami Stadium, and the football cup finals on August 5 at Olubadan Stadium.

The Table Tennis Tournament finals take place on Wednesday, August 6, originally planned to celebrate the monarch’s 90th birthday and coronation anniversary before his passing.

A significant moment of tribute will be the lying-in-state and interfaith service at Mapo Hall on Thursday, August 7, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Christian wake at the Olubadan Palace in Oke Aremo at 3:00 p.m.

A family thanksgiving service will conclude the rites on Sunday, August 10, at the Cathedral of St. Peter’s.

The family expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, Governor Makinde, the Olubadan-In-Council, and the public, for their condolences, support, and shared mourning.
