Nollywood Mourns as Gospel Singer Onos Brisibi Dies at 55

The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of gospel singer and Nollywood soundtrack vocalist, Onos Brisibi, who passed away at the age of 55.

Brisibi, widely known for her soulful and powerful vocals in classic Nollywood productions such as Domitilla and Blood Money, died on March 23, 2026, after a prolonged illness.

Her passing was confirmed in an emotional tribute by veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, who described her as a devoted Christian and gifted singer whose voice inspired many.

“It’s hard to put into words the loss we feel. My dear sister and cousin, Onos Nancy Brisibi, went to be with the Lord… after a long and difficult illness,” he wrote.

RMD paid glowing tribute to her life, recalling her deep faith, vibrant personality, and the joy she brought to those around her. He described her as “love in human form,” noting that her music went beyond performance to true ministry, touching hearts and drawing people closer to God.

He also shared personal memories of their bond, highlighting her humour, warmth, and lively spirit, even during her final days.

According to him, Brisibi remained full of laughter and strength despite her illness, leaving behind cherished memories for family and friends.

The late singer is survived by her daughter, Sarah, her mother, siblings, and an extended family who continue to mourn her loss.

Renowned for her contributions to gospel music and her unforgettable voice in Nollywood soundtracks, Brisibi’s legacy endures as one that shaped the spiritual and emotional tone of many Nigerian films.

Her death marks the end of an era for fans of gospel music and classic Nollywood, where her voice once resonated with depth, faith, and inspiration.
