LAGOS – Pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, on Friday said there is no difference between Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed and Boko Haram insurgents.
The governor had drawn the ire of Nigerians on Thursday when he said Fulani herders have no option but to carry AK-47 for self-defence because they were being attacked and killed by cattle rustlers.
He also condemned South West, South-East Governors, and also Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State over the manner in which they were handling the farmers-herders clashes.
He said: “The Fulani man is practising the tradition of trans-human, pastoralism, he has been exposed to the battery of the forests, the animals, and now, the cattle rustlers, who carry guns, kill him and take away his commonwealth – that is his cows – he had no option than to carry Ak-47 because the society and the government are not protecting him.”
But speaking in a chat with DAILY INDEPENDENT, Yinka Odumakin, Afenifere’s National Publicity Secretary, said it is punishing that Southerners have to share the same space with Governor Bala.
“It’s a punishing thing that we have to live in the same space with elements like this. We share no civilization and they keep on insulting us.
“What is the difference between him and Boko Haram? We are pained to endure the torture.”
