Mum arrested after her two young children died when she locked them in a hot car to teach them a lesson

A mum smoked marijuana and took a nap while her two toddlers died after she locked them in a hot car to teach them a lesson, Police have said.
The two-year-old girl and 16-month-old boy died as temperatures reached about 35C in Texas, US, on May 26.
Cynthia Marie Randolph, 24, had initially told cops the youngsters had locked themselves in the vehicle, smashing a window to support her claims.
But after changing her story she is being held on suspicion of two counts of causing serious bodily injury to a child.
According to the criminal complaint, Randolph initially told cops she was folding laundry and watching TV while the children were playing on the  back porch.
She said when she noticed they were no longer there, she went looking for them and found them about a half-hour later locked in the car.
The youngsters were unresponsive and Randolph said she broke a window to gain entry.
At the time she said the kids were exposed to extreme temperatures in the car for “no more than an hour.”
But her account of that day changed and on Friday she told cops she left the tots in the car intentionally, the Parker County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
She said she found the kids playing in the vehicle and when her daughter refused to get out, she shut the door to teach her a lesson, thinking she would be able to get out.
Randolph said she went back into the house, smoked marijuana and took a nap for two or three hours, the complaint states.
It says that when she woke up and went to check on the children, they were unresponsive and she broke the car window to support her initial story.
The children were pronounced dead about a half-hour after authorities were notified.
