The Personal Assistant (P. A.) to the Minister of Communications, Barrister Abdul-raheem Adebayo Shittu, Hon. Rasaq Olubodun, has resigned his appointment over accumulated 23-month salary arrears owed him by the Minister, emerging report according to Daily Post suggests
Olubodun who also hails from Saki, the hometown of the ex-Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General in Oyo State was said to have written the minister through his lawyer, demanding the payment of the 23-month salary arrears and other entitlements running to over N10m.
It was learnt on Tuesday according to Daily Post that the salary of the PA was said to have been paid alongside that of the minister which as stipulated in minister’s appointment letter when he was appointed in November 2015.
Olubodun in the letter noted that all efforts to ensure that the issue did not become a thing of public knowledge proved to be abortive.
He said that the intervention of elders in their hometown, Saki, to convene a meeting between him and Shittu ended in stalemate.
Olubodun said, “The intervention of some elders from Saki did not yield any positive result as a meeting convened at the Minister’s house in Aerodrome Estate to reconcile ended in shouting match between me and the Minister”.
A source who begged not to be named also regretted that working with the minister which ought to be a thing of joy turned to be a sad experience.
He said, “Working with the minister which should be a thing of pride was otherwise as he and his family have been living on borrowing spree and begging for money from friends and family to survive”.
However, efforts to reach the minister and his Media Aide, Mr. Victor Oluwadamilare to confirm the resignation of Olubodun proved abortive as calls put through to their mobile numbers failed.
But another member of Shittu’s Media team, Mr. Adetoyese Oladejo, who confirmed the resignation of Olubodun to DAILY POST at about 8.am on Tuesday noted that the resignation was just a political affair between the duo.
Oladejo said that it was true Olubodun resigned but it was a political affair between them.
