The Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has expressed his deep sorrow following the death of prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and the Seriki Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Yekini Adeojo.

Governor Makinde described the late Alhaji Adeojo as “one of the last men standing,” stating that his passing signifies the end of a significant and distinguished political era.

In a condolence message directed to the Adeojo family, Governor Makinde, who acknowledged Alhaji Adeojo’s role as the PDP Governorship standardbearer in the 1999 gubernatorial election, offered his sincere sympathies. He prayed for divine strength for the family to bear the loss of their esteemed patriarch.
The governor’s condolence statement was released on Friday by his Special Adviser (Media), Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju, and made available to members of the press in Ibadan.

Governor Makinde also extended his condolences to the entire PDP family within Oyo State.
He stated, “I have just been informed about the passing of our father, Pa Yekini Adeojo. I condole with the family of Alhaji Adeojo, the PDP in Oyo State and the good people of the state over the demise of a man most of us grew up to know as an icon and patriot.”
The governor further elaborated on the significance of Alhaji Adeojo’s passing, noting, “Baba’s death marks the end of a glorious political era, as he was one of the last great men standing in the state as a political, community and religious leader.
He will be greatly missed by the PDP family, where he has been our leader and icon for over two decades. His death will also leave a vacuum in our great state and Nigeria, because Baba gave his best to serving our state and nation.”
Governor Makinde concluded his message with prayers for the departed leader, saying, “It is my prayer that God will grant repose to his soul, grant him Aljanah Firdaus and uphold the family he left behind.”
